THEY FEEL DIFFERENT, RIGHT?
THEY ARE DIFFERENT, RIGHT?
WHICH ONE’S BETTER?
ever since listening to live at massey years ago, i’ve preferred the suite – heart of gold belongs i think, as an appendix or afterword to man needs a maid – there’s something really incredible about this development from perhaps being a little young, selfish and dependent, to recognizing it, and trying to change. all the while recognizing that change is a continuum and fucking difficult, and that you must constantly be focused on it.
they complement each other, and i think heart of gold in particular is elevated as a song from something kinda cheesey (hence its unintended mass appeal), to something dead fucking serious, and maybe even a little mournful, but hopefully so? kinda like baudelaire said – i have yet to see beauty without melancholy. interested in your thoughts!
