TRAPPN#121: Townes Van Zandt in Heartworm Highways
Excerpt from Heartworm Highways, a documentary about Van Zandt and his contemporaries in Tennesse and Texas’s “Outlaw Country” movement from 1975-76.
Profound stuff. This video will make you cry if you’re drunk off whisky. I know from experience. What’s with blues-inspired folk music being such great drinking music? I suppose the best way to experience music is to be in the same state as its composer.
Townes Van Zandt struggled with major addictions his whole life, exemplifying that classic late 1960s country-folk musician stereotype.
I desperately want to watch this doc.
